Historical Note

The Indigenous Cultures Resource Center (ICRC) (formerly known as American Indian Student Services) is a gathering place and resource center that fosters visibility, awareness, and leadership through intercultural learning and support with an emphasis around Indigenous Nations and Indigenous lifeways and experiences.

Formed in 1971 as Poot-Wah-Wat-Mi (Keepers of the Fire), becoming the Native American Student Organization (NASO) in 1978, the American Indian Student Organization (AISO) in 1979, to the Circle of Native Nations (CNN) in 2007, and most recently the Native Nations Student Organization (NNSO) sometime around 2015. The NNSO has sponsored events, awareness weeks, and powwows for the past 50+ years in cooperation with the ICRC.
